Project Atonement

Project Atonement is an RPG concept set in a magical post-apocalypse.

When the protagonist’s younger brother becomes a font of magic energy called the Aether, it begins to tear him apart. The only way for our protagonist to save him is to merge their consciousness, his younger brother living on as a voice in his head.

Journey across a barren, warped and forgotten continent as you uncover the dark secrets of the past while trying to return your younger brother to his original body.

Narrative Concepts

  • Created a detailed and comprehensive Narrative Document providing the Core World Building and Narrative for the game.

    • Document includes information on the world, story, history and characters in the game alongside core inspirations and narrative approaches and themes.

Game Design

  • Created a comprehensive conceptual Games Design Document detailing how the game would work as a fully-fledged RPG.

    • This includes Combat, Crafting, Magic, World Design, UI Design alongside Level Design and Script for the UE4 prototype.

Demo

  • Built a playable narrative Demo in Unreal Engine 4

    • Demo covers the introductory sequence of the games narrative. The Demo features dialogue, side-quests and a narrative dream sequence.

  • Designed a full starting area for the Demo with an emphasis on atmosphere and immersion.

  • Blocked-out, Meshed and Lit the level in-engine.

  • Got permissions to use music in the Demo from Neo-Medieval Folk band Vox Vulgaris
